1/17/2024 0 Comments Equalizer twoIn fact, the grand finale showcasing the ultimate mano a mano between McCall and Dave comes off as both predictable and fundamentally preposterous, no matter how unusual its location, that being a coastal Massachusetts town (actually Brant Rock, an hour south of Boston) during a hurricane-force storm. From here on, we could as easily be watching Dirty Harry, Rambo or John McClane, so generic do McCall’s actions become at this point. Having set young Miles on the right path by getting him to spruce up their apartment building rather than hanging with gangsta types, McCall from here on dedicates himself to tracking down the evident killer, none other than his old partner Dave ( Pedro Pascal, of TV’s Narcos). The fact that one set of victims includes Susan plunges McCall into action, all the more so when it becomes evident that he’s on the hit list as well.Īlong with the fact that McCall has by now moved on from Coates to reading Proust, the man’s meditative, cloistered side essentially disappears at this point, which turns him into an essentially conventional action hero. The purity of mind and pared-down simplicity of his life are what mark the man as a special character these days, anyone - from little kids to old-timers wondrously made to look younger - can be an action star, but no others come off like an urban contemporary Siddhartha.Īccording to The Equalizer 2, the place not to be theses days is Brussels, where repeated sets of multiple murders of upscale officials at their homes are being committed by some ruthless commandos of unknown origin. He also remains close to his former CIA handler, Susan Plummer ( Melissa Leo, percolating buoyantly), who knew his late wife, to whom McCall remains reverentially true. He now works as a Lyft driver and seems more outwardly dedicated to those in need of a helping hand, including a Holocaust survivor (Orson Bean) and a local kid, Miles (Ashton Sanders, of Moonlight and the upcoming Native Son, in which he plays Bigger Thomas), who he sees getting sucked in by the wrong crowd. The incident feels entirely arbitrary but serves as a reminder that McCall was designed to fulfill all manner of righteous revenge fantasies and is still able to deliver.īack home in Boston, McCall has moved into a more commodious, somewhat less spartan apartment than he occupied four years ago. Devine, of Waterville, is a former stage and film actor. That the old veteran is still at the top of his game is apparent here in the Bond-like opening, in which McCall, bearded and dressed in native garb aboard a speeding train in Turkey and conspicuously shown to be reading Ta-Nehisi Coates’ Between the World and Me, enters the club car and in short order dispatches three swarthy thugs. It hurts to say it, but I doubt that there will be a succession of “The Equalizer” films. Harry Gregson-Williams’s score isn’t as heart pumping as the Bourne film score by John Powell, but it will suffice. Oliver Wood’s camera work plays a huge part of putting the OMG in this film. Hooray.įuqua’s direction is as usual, top drawer, a glove compartment of throat clutching and dry mouth moments. Those of my generation will be pleased to see an old friend, game show host and stand up comic Orson Bean, now 90 years old and still delightful. The closest McCall comes to Jason Bourne is a palm wetting OMG ride with a knife carrying killer in his Lyft car. See if you can spot the villain early on. Oscar Winning Melissa Leo, his old CIA boss from the original “The Equalizer,” is back to help him out. It’s too long, not well handled, but it’s good old fashioned shoot out fun, and a page torn from “High Noon.” Miles will figure into the dark rain-swept finale in an abandoned beach resort, in a heart-stopping scene. Miles Whittaker (Ashton Sanders of “Moonlight”) an art student trying to avoid gang connections, is plucked from the dark side and set to meaningful work by McCall.

1/17/2024 0 Comments Mother load movie“This country is no place for a Bonnie Lass like you.” Mancuso isn’t buying it and Heston is wary of just what the young couple are looking for. He’ll verbally spar with Mancuso talking of little gold left but enough silver to make a meager living. That’s what you get from an effective Heston who threatens one moment before going soft on the couple and talking of the years of struggle battling the mine that runs beneath “his” mountain. Think of Bogie still alive and protecting his Sierra Madre mine after thirty years. The duo will meet a heavily bearded Chuck Heston sporting a Scottish accent shortly thereafter. Insert the actors swimming to shore and it won’t be long before they hear the sound of bagpipes coming from higher up a cliff face. Thankfully no one was hurt but the footage is so impressive it was inserted into the film with a quick rewrite from Fraser Heston. It actually crashes and cartwheels landing upside down and sinking. The filmmakers happened upon a stroke of luck when filming the pontoon plane approaching a secluded lake that will serve as the backdrop for the majority of the film. He’ll serve as the character who warns of going any further up river looking for gold. Mancuso’s plane isn’t exactly reliable and an emergency landing brings the pair into contact with crusty John Marley. It’s the plane trek inland that allows Heston to strap a camera to the plane’s pontoon as it journeys over some glorious looking lakes and forested areas of our west coast province. Cut to a rebellious Mancuso walking off his job and in quick order, meets up with Kim and they’re off to track his pal and her boyfriend who seems to have gone missing while hunting for gold in the forested mountains of B.C. With a hint of what is to come a barely breathing man is pulled from the rubble of a collapsed mine only to have a pick axe planted firmly in his chest. “You stay the hell out of my mine, Laddie!” Interestingly, it’s Joe who doubled for Heston in the now famous chariot race in Ben-Hur while dad, Yakima, worked the second unit for director Willy Wyler. Mother Lode is a beautiful looking film written and produced by Chuck’s son Fraser with second unit work done by Joe Canutt, son of famed stuntman Yakima. Raised in Canada, the Italian born Mancuso has long been associated with this country’s acting community which includes appearing at the world famous Stratford Festival here in Ontario, just twenty minutes from my doorstep. Which brings me to this Charlton Heston directed feature made in the interior of British Columbia that also sees the iconic actor taking the lead opposite a young Kim Basinger and Nick Mancuso. Continue until the entire tart is covered. You’ll only need a few basic ingredients to make every part of this recipe. Then, when you move on to the next row, cover the first row leaving just 1-2 millimetres over. Place the apple slices as tightly as possible : Place the slices next to each other end to end.I you don’t have a slicer, you can thin apple slices using a sharp knife. I use my Triangle vegetable slicer to make very thin slices. Cut the apple slices as thinly as possible : The beauty of this tart comes from its thinness! The thinner your apple slices, the most “wow” effect you will reach. For a vibrant burst of color, go for bright red apples. However, when it comes to decorating the tart, I recommend using a firmer apple variety like pink lady, gala or honeycrisp apples. Choose the right apples: When making the apple compote, it’s best to opt for cooking-friendly varieties like Boskoop or Braeburn. This Rose Apple Tart is very easy to make, but here are some tips on how to make it right the first time! – this section contains advertisement for Triangle – Serve. Serve the rose apple tart warm or at room temperature, and consider adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream (crème chantilly) for an extra delightful touch.Allow it to cool on a wire rack, and sprinkle with icing sugar for a finishing touch. Bake. Bake the tart for approximately 30 minutes at 175☌ (350☏) until the crust turns golden brown.Starting from the outer edge, arrange the apple slices in a rose pattern on top of the compote. Spread the apple compote evenly over the bottom of the tart. Once the pastry is partially baked, remove it from the oven. To prevent browning, soak the apple slices in a bowl of water with lemon juice. Cut the apples. Meanwhile, thinly slice the red apples into very thin slices.Bake the pastry crust “blind” for 10 minutes. Line a 22 cm tart tin with greaseproof paper or butter, and gently place the pastry in the tin. Roll out the chilled pastry into a circle using a rolling pin. Blind bake. Preheat the oven to 175☌ (350☏).Add cinnamon and either blend the compote or leave it slightly chunky, according to your preference. Cook over medium heat for 10-15 minutes until the apples are soft. Place them in a small saucepan along with the sugar. Prepare the apple compote. While the pastry chills, peel and cube the apples.Shape the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for an hour. Next, add the egg and mix until a dough forms. Add the butter and mix until the mixture resembles sand. Make the dough. Combine the flour and sugar in a large bowl. You will find the exact quantities in the recipe card. Cinnamon: I like to add ground cinnamon to my apple compote, if you don’t like it, you can either remove it or add vanilla extract instead.Lemon: To ensure that the apples keep their bright color, I deep my apples slices in a bowl of water with lemon juice. Apples: When making the apple compote, it’s best to opt for cooking-friendly varieties like Boskoop or Braeburn. You can also replace the apple compote with a thin layer of jam (abricot jam is my favorite!) under the apples. To save time, you can use ready-made apple compote ou apple sauce. Apple compote: I prepare an easy homemade apple compote for the bottom of the tart.If you don’t have time, you can use a ready-made pie crust or puff pastry. Tart dough: I prepared a simple sweet shortcrust or pâte sucrée from flour, butter, egg and powdered sugar (the thinner the better to make a dough). 1/17/2024 0 Comments Shellshock live hack downloadHacks & Cheats, Call of Duty Hacks & Cheats, Gunz Hacks & Cheats, Quake LIVE Hacks & Cheats, WolfTeam Hacks & Cheats, America's Army Hacks & Cheats, Battlefield 2/2142 Hacks & Cheats, Battlefield Heroes Hacks & Cheats, Battlefield Bad Company 2 (BC2) Hacks & Cheats, Battlefield 3 (BF3) Hacks & Cheats, Maplestory Hacks & Cheats, Diablo 3 Hacks & Cheats, Starcraft 2 Hacks & Cheats, Heroes of Newerth Hacks & Cheats, Call of Duty Hacks & Cheats, Call of Duty 4 Hacks & Cheats, Modern Warfare Hacks & Cheats, Modern Warfare 2 Hacks & Cheats, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Hacks & Cheats, Project Blackout Hacks & Cheats, Runescape Hacks & Bots, Minecraft Hacks & Mods, MAT Hacks & Cheats, All Points Bulletin Hacks & Cheats, Vindictus Hacks & Cheats, Dragon Nest Hacks & Cheats, DayZ Hacks & Cheats, WarZ Hacks & Cheats, Arctic Combat Hacks & Cheats, Black OPS 2 Hacks & Cheats, BlackLight Retribution Hacks & Cheats, Bullet Run Hacks & Cheats, All Points Bulletin Hacks & Cheats, Arctic Combat Hacks & Cheats, Warframe Hacks & Cheats, Crysis 3 Hacks & Cheats, Warface Hacks & Cheats, Realm of the Mad God Hacks & Cheats, War Thunder Hacks & Cheats, Call of Duty Ghosts Hacks & Cheats, Battlefield 4 Hacks & Cheats and cheats and trainers for many other multiplayer games. It tells you just how much I was enjoying the relationship development that I became impatient every time the focus was on something else, lol. Personally, I wouldn’t have minded less suspense and more focus on Nash’s struggles, but I knew this had romantic suspense elements going in. I loved the focus on his mental health, and I wanted as much of that element as I could get. Nash makes for SUCH a great lead – he’s clearly a good guy, but his depression is erasing the personality he once had. They’re two people who shouldn’t fit together (and probably wouldn’t have at another time in their lives), but they find connection in the experiences that have lead them here. The transformation of both characters from start to finish was truly impressive, and one of the things that makes this love story so engaging. Spending time with Lina lightens up both Nash and the book, though it’s emotionally-charged the whole way through. He’s not in a good place when the book begins, and I kind of loved the added depth that gave the story. This starts out a little darker and grittier than Things We Never Got Over, with an undercurrent of pain fueling Nash’s every action. Even if they could stop bickering, neither one is capable of a relationship at the moment – and there are nothing but obstacles in their path. Being around her sparks something inside Nash, and he can’t seem to get enough of that feeling. The woman is a spitfire, and that’s exactly what Nash needs right now. Lina is only in town temporarily and she’s sure to run at the first sign of a relationship, but Nash can feel himself being drawn to her. So when the woman his brother dated briefly twenty years ago (then befriended) moves into the apartment next door, it’s a shock to the system. Nash has always been a rule-follower, a relationship guy, and a kind, loving man – but the experience has changed him, and he can feel himself getting pulled into the darkness. The story follows Nash, a cop who was recently shot while on the job. These opposites attract in a big way, and it was so much fun watching them fall together. The romance is at the heart of everything though, and these two were fire together – it’s a hot slow burn, with crackling chemistry and tons of sexual tension. It could certainly be read as a standalone if you really wanted to, but the community is integral to the story and the suspense element ties the books together. I also loved the neighbors aspect, and just how much this community bonds together. There was just something immensely compelling about this wounded and vulnerable hero he’s a genuinely good guy who is in a dark place, and it’s not until a fierce, fiery woman enters his life that he starts coming back into the light. It was great to be back in Knockemout – this sequel did NOT disappoint! I think I liked it better than the first one, and that was very tough competition. 1/16/2024 0 Comments London fog by benjamin mooreThis balanced colour is also a fantastic medium neutral tone for a transitional style, that merges the browns and grays seamlessly. Stemming from a brown-gray, it captures the warmth from the brown, but predominantly leans towards a gray. This trendy colour is a mix between the warmth of CC-394 Boulevard and the 2017 colour 2112-50 Stormy Monday. Whether its furniture or accessories that are dark, light or even metallic, it gracefully backdrops many different hues. It has a slight pink undertone with a dash of yellow that creates a modest mix! This creamy gray pairs well with other neutrals and stronger pops of colour. One of my favourite neutrals that falls under a greige, is the CC-394 Boulevard. It’s a friendly and elegant shade of gray that feels inviting yet fresh in many spaces. It compliments the in-trend grays, while maintaining a good balance with more traditional dark brown furniture. With a fairly neutral undertone as well, it makes for a versatile colour for throughout the home. OC-28 CollingwoodĪlso part of the off-whites, this transitional greige, leans to the lighter and grayer scale of the neutrals. The blend of different colours in this hue, allow it to go grayer in cooler lighting, but picks up the warmth in warmer lighting. With a slight green undertone (if any), it pairs well with traditional browns and warm tones, but also just as well with warm grays. It’s a perfect blend of beige and gray, to create a ‘greige’. HC-172 Revere Pewterįor the longest time, HC-172 Revere Pewter has been Benjamin Moore’s most popular colour! It’s a tried and true neutral to the core. This medium tone neutral is an ideal backdrop for muted shades, of all colour spectrums, as it doesn’t lean too heavily toward a green or red undertone. Conversely, lots of light will showcase a mid-tone depth, where the colour can become significantly darker in minimally lit spaces. In Northern or Eastern facing rooms, it may draw on the gray side of the colour, whereas Southern or Western facing rooms will highlight the warm beige undertone. Having said that, light direction, and the amount of light in a space can affect this colour significantly. Shop NowĬC-490 Stone Hearth is a slightly darker neutral that leans a little toward the beige side. Visiting from Canada□□? Get Benjamin Moore Paints delivered right to your door. These factors lend it to be a popular resale home colour. Truer to the name OC-15 Baby Fawn, in my opinion, is an ever so slightly flesh-pink tone you’d expect to see from a baby fawn indeed! It’s a highly versatile greige a soft, milky beige, that creates a blend of warmth and familiarity. It’s one of the darkest off-whites you’ll find in the off-white section, but maintains a light-to-medium tone within the historical colours. OC-15 Baby Fawn and HC-173 Edgecomb Gray are one in the same! This historical colour also found in the off-whites, is adeptly placed in both. It’s also a colour that backdrops mahogany or reddish undertone wood furniture well! OC-15 Baby Fawn This pairs well with creams and off whites, as well as warmer, more traditional colours like reds, olives and burnt oranges. While it can be considered a taupey beige, it carries a hint of gray to create a soft, subtle beige. The warmest of the medium toned neutrals, is HC-80 Bleeker Beige. We’ve put together the top 10 Benjamin Moore mid-toned neutral colours the goldilocks of neutrals if you will, not too light and not too dark! Whether it’s for throughout the home or a singular room, there are ten perfect choices for any every space. Previously we’ve talked about light neutrals, but often, a little more depth is required to make an impression that shows up through the natural shadows of a space. 1/16/2024 0 Comments Nintendo plug and playHokuto no Ken 3: Shin Seiki Sōzō: Seiken Retsuden.Dragon Ball: Shenron no Nazo (aka Dragon Power).Captain Tsubasa (aka Tecmo Cup: Soccer/Football Game). This is absent in the Japanese version.Ī special Japan-only gold-colored Famicom Mini that was released in 2018, containing 20 games based on various Shonen Jump properties: The international versions have a language select option. The game icons in the Japanese version are rounder than in the international ones.Appropriately, the design of the main menu differs depending on the region, being based on the design of the Famicom in Japan and the design of the original NES elsewhere. There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures.
